Entrevista a: Slovenian Damien Hirst

I’m Damien Hirst. An unknown SLOVENIAN Artist doing art by doing art and therefore undoing art. Not to be confused with the British artist Damien Hirst.

I want art to be cheap but loved and admired. I want art to stop being exclusive and start being for everyone. I want art to belong to those who can see beauty in it and not those who can afford to buy it. I want art to make a difference. I want art to be fake, meaningless and cheap. Because only in this way one could learn to appreciate art for only one true reason – because it is art.

¿A quién admiras?

 Tattoos: No

 Vacación: Dormir

 Matemáticas: Si puedo usar calculadora

El Fin del Mundo: No me preocupa

A username that caught my attention on Twitter, answering to the name of Damien Hirst…yeah, yeah, yeah we all know who Damien Hirst is but then you get to his bio and…

I’m Damien Hirst. An unknown SLOVENIAN Artist doing art by doing art and therefore undoing art. Not to be confused with the British artist Damien Hirst.

Damien Hirst who is Damien Hirst but not Damien Hirst sells his artwork signed by (of course) Damien Hirst, we call it appropriation and surely he’s not fooling anyone or being a thief like he’s been called several times by making clear on his website that he’s not the British Damien Hirst but the Slovenian artist who apparently has a very good point and enjoys social criticism using the art world as an example. One of the main points is to battle the consumerism behind the art world. When the artwork stops having value on it’s own to start promoting the artist as a brand.

In his own words:

I want art to be cheap but loved and admired. I want art to stop being exclusive and start being for everyone. I want art to belong to those who can see beauty in it and not those who can afford to buy it. I want art to make a difference. I want art to be fake, meaningless and cheap. Because only in this way one could learn to appreciate art for only one true reason – because it is art.

How is a day in the life of Damien Hirst?

Nothing like a day in the life of Damien Hirst.

Who do you consider to be the most overrated character in history?

God. Obviously.

Someone said that we could blame Andy Warhol for everything that is wrong with society nowadays, Do you consider this to be a fair statement?

I think what is actually wrong with this society is that it needs to blame someone for everything.

So, Is society not ready for art as art?

I think it’s ready exactly because it’s not ready.

Who do you admire?

People who managed to die happy without leaving any money behind.

Why did you decide to be an artist?

I didn’t. I keep deciding not to be an artist all the time.

How do you define success in the art field?

Every time I sell something as art I feel successful. It just doesn’t last for long.

What’s your opinion on Art Critics?

My opinion on art critics is that one should have no opinion about them.

What do you think the world is missing these days?

More happy people.
